regulation<\/strong>\u00a0of the European Parliament and Council dated 25 October 2012 on the matter of European standardization states that by standard they intend:<\/p>\n\n<p><em>\u201cstandard\u2019 means a technical specification, adopted by a recognised standardisation body, for repeated or continuous application, with which compliance is not compulsory, and which is one of the following\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"700\" height=\"380\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">International standard <\/h3>\n\n<p>Means a standard adopted by an international standardisation body<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">European standard <\/h3>\n\n<p>Means a standard adopted by a European standardisation organisation<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Harmonised standard<\/h3>\n\n<p>Means a European standard adopted on the basis of a request made by the Commission for the application of Union harmonisation legislation.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">National standard<\/h3>\n\n<p>Means a standard adopted by a national standardisation body<\/p>\n\n<p>Therefore, standards represent those documents which\u00a0<strong>define<\/strong>\u00a0the state fo the art\u00a0<strong>characteristics<\/strong>\u00a0of a product or service (dimensions, performance, environment, quality, organization etc.) and are the result of the work of thousands of experts in Italy and worldwide.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">ISO, UNI and IEC standards<\/h2>\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n<p>The most authoritative body worldwide is\u00a0<strong>ISO<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013\u00a0<strong>I<\/strong>nternational\u00a0<strong>O<\/strong>rganization for\u00a0<strong>S<\/strong>tandardization \u2013 which determines the technical regulations, assessments,inspection and standardization of quality processes in prductiove environments.<\/p>\n\n<p>ISO merges the standardization bodies of\u00a0<strong>157 industrialized countries<\/strong>\u00a0and developing countries worldwide.<\/p>\n\n<p>In Italy\u00a0<strong>ISO standards worldwide<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>CEN<\/strong>\u00a0(European Committee of Norms) at\u00a0<strong>European level<\/strong>\u00a0are repesented by the non profit\u00a0<strong>private organization UNI<\/strong>\u00a0(Italian National Body of Unification).<\/p>\n\n<p>UNI looks after the normative aspects for industrial, commercial and third sector businesses.<\/p>\n\n<p>ISO cooperates closely with\u00a0<strong>IEC<\/strong> (International Electrotechnical Commission ): this international organization is responsible for the standard description in the matter of electricity, electronics and connected technologies. <strong>UNI\u2019s main goal is to divulge technical standards and support their balance.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">European standards for machinery safety<\/h3>\n\n<p>The current European standards for machinery safety is divided into 3 types:<\/p>\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A type standards<\/h4>\n\n<p>These basic standards give\u00a0<strong>basic concepts<\/strong>, principles for design, and general aspects that are applicable to machinery<\/p>\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">B type standards<\/h4>\n\n<p>These\u00a0<strong>generic safety standards<\/strong>\u00a0deal with one safety aspect or one type of safeguard, which can be used across a wide range of machinery.<\/p>\n\n<p>Type-B includes two subdivisions:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Type-B1<\/strong>\u00a0standards focus on particular safety aspects (safety distances, surface temperature, or noise)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Type-B2<\/strong>\u00a0standards are for safeguards (two-hand controls, interlocking devices, pressure sensitive devices, fixed and movable guards, photcell barriers)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">C type standards<\/h4>\n\n<p>These documents handle detailed safety guidelines\u00a0<strong>for a particular machine or group of machines<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Accessafe is an active part in the work group \u201cMachinery safety UNI US0010100 and ISO TC
