CE MARKING FOR MACHINERY PLACEN ON THE MARKET AFTER 1996
Taking into consideration article 12 of the Machinery Directive, post 1996 machinery is divided into two groups.
- Machinery listed in annex IV
- Machinery not listed in annex IV
1. Machinery listed in annex IV
These machines are considered the most dangerous and for which the marking process is more preventive.
The manufacturer shall apply one of the following procedures:
- the procedure for assessment of conformity with internal checks on the manufacture of machinery
- the EC type-examination procedure , plus the internal checks on the manufacture of machinery
- the full quality assurance procedure
The above mentioned procedures can be applied if the following conditions are fulfilled:
- the machinery concerned must be in the scope of one or more harmonised C type standards
- one or more C type standards are applied to the machinery concerrned
- the harmonised standard or standards concerned must cover all of the EHSR (ESSENTIAL HEALTH AND SAFETY REQUIREMENTS)
In the case the above mentioned conditions are not fulfilled, the manufacturer shall follow one of the two procedures outlined hereafter, which shall involve a notified body:
- the EC type-examination procedure , plus the internal checks on the manufacture of machinery
- the full quality assurance procedure
2. Machinery not listed in annex IV
The manufacturer shall apply the procedure for assessment of conformity with internal checks on the manufacture of machinery.
