Declaration of conformity

CE MARKING FOR MACHINERY PLACEN ON THE MARKET AFTER 1996

Taking into consideration article 12 of the Machinery Directive, post 1996 machinery is divided into two groups.

1. Machinery listed in annex IV
2. Machinery not listed in annex IV

1. Machinery listed in annex IV

These are the machines considered to be the most dangerous, and for which the marking process is the most stringent.

The manufacturer shall apply one of the following procedures:

• the procedure for assessment of conformity with internal checks on the manufacture of machinery
• the EC type-examination procedure , plus the internal checks on the manufacture of machinery
• the full quality assurance procedure

The above mentioned procedures can be applied if the following conditions are fulfilled:

• the machinery concerned must be in the scope of one or more harmonised C type standards
• one or more C type standards are applied to the machinery concerrned
• All RESS (ESSENTIAL HEALTH AND SAFETY REQUIREMENTS) are met.

If the conditions listed above are not met, the manufacturer must follow one of the following two procedures, both of which involve a notified body:

• the EC type-examination procedure , plus the internal checks on the manufacture of machinery
• the full quality assurance procedure

2. Machinery not listed in annex IV

The manufacturer shall apply the procedure for assessment of conformity with internal checks on the manufacture of machinery.
