Machinery Compliance Audit
Assessment of the actual safety status of machinery and industrial plant
Only a structured assessment reveals the true safety level of a machine
When assessing a machine, a production line, or a plant, the first requirement is to establish whether the actual safety level is genuinely aligned with the applicable regulatory requirements. The Machinery Compliance Audit (Gap Analysis) is designed to address this need, verifying the actual safety status of machinery and plant against the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, the Machinery Regulation (EU) 2023/1230 and the applicable harmonised standards. The assessment involves technical audits at the client’s premises and a structured evaluation of operating conditions, safety measures in place and available documentation, with the aim of identifying any non-conformities and critical issues.
When is it needed
The service is typically required:
- During the purchase or sale of machinery and plant;
- In the course of mergers and acquisitions (M&A), to assess the compliance status of production assets;
- Following substantial modifications to existing machines or lines;
- For audits, internal reviews, or in response to requests from regulatory authorities.
How the assessment is carried out
The audit comprises:
- Technical inspection of the machinery, including assessment of operating, maintenance and use conditions;
- Review of technical documentation, including the Technical File, instruction and maintenance manuals, and the Declaration of Conformity;
- Assessment of regulatory compliance with applicable European directives and harmonised standards;
- Identification of non-conformities and safety risks.
What we deliver
At the end of the assessment, we provide a final report highlighting:
- Identified critical issues;
- Non-conformities against applicable requirements;
- Technical recommendations for bringing machinery or plant into compliance.
